Almost everyone in the world, it would seem, agrees that there are unexplained forces existing in the universe which science hasn’t yet been able to to identify or in some cases, even detect. We all know that we do not know everything about how the universe works or why it even exists. On this point, I believe we have consensus between theists and non-theists. Opinions however diverge from this point on.
Theists came up with the concept/theory that all of these unexplained phenomena were really controlled by supernatural beings which they called Gods and which was later boiled down to just one God, and further, went on to give it distinct human characteristics. Not only did it have human characteristics like being able to love and be loved, they insisted that it was a male who operated just like a human king and everything in the universe was part of it’s kingdom. Not a scrap of evidence was produced to show that any of this was true.
It wasn’t long before people started to claim that this supernatural being was taking on a human persona and speaking directly to them. They, and only they had direct connections to the master puppeteer. WOW! Not a scrap of evidence was produced to show that any of this was true, but somehow they attracted a following of believers who thought that these chosen ones might be able to put in a good word for them, and what do you know, religion was born. Up until then, not a scrap of evidence was produced to show that any of this was true, but people jumped on to the bandwagon because if it was true, they didn’t want to be left out of the benefits that could come their way.
Fast forward to just over 2000 years ago and we see one of these sects make a claim that this supernatural being, who you must remember is still in charge of all unexplained phenomena in the entire universe, this supernatural being decides to take human form and produce a son from a virgin whose role is to teach humans how to live with one another and to sacrifice his life in an extraordinarily brutal manner in order to obtain forgiveness from the supernatural being that sent him in the first place, for all the wrong doings of humans who ever lived and who will ever be born in the future. They also claimed that the one who was sacrificed and the one who sent him to be sacrificed and the one who demanded the sacrifice and the one who had the power to forgive were all one and the same supernatural being. Not a scrap of evidence was produced to support this extraordinary claim but again people jumped on to the bandwagon because if it was true, they didn’t want to be left out of the benefits that could come their way.
I don’t know if any of you reading this post are beginning to understand why non-believers or as they are called nowadays, atheists are saying to themselves WTF is wrong with these people? Why can’t they just accept the fact that there are unexplained phenomena in the universe and leave it at that. Why make it so complicated and come up with such convoluted stories to the point where we now have so many different sects all claiming that they are the true soldiers in this supernatural kingdom and dedicating their lives to killing everyone else who do not agree with them and their outrageous philosophy. But that’s the nature of religion. No facts are needed, no proof is required. Not a scrap of evidence is ever provided.
